RUDIS, a market leader in wrestling performance gear, faced repeated site outages and slow load times on WooCommerce. High-profile product drops would bring the store down, costing sales and customer trust. In 2023 they teamed with CQL to tackle these challenges head on, first focusing on stability and then on feature-driven growth.
Traffic spikes during limited releases exposed the old platform’s limitations. Frequent crashes led to abandoned carts and frustrated athletes. Meanwhile, the team wanted a refreshed brand look and easier content management—but their tech stack was rigid. They needed a foundation that could grow with their audience and support rapid updates.
Phase one centered on migrating to Shopify Plus using CQL’s Propel framework. This shift delivered faster page loads, rock-solid hosting, and a modernized user interface. They’ve build custom sections to tell champion athlete stories and highlight gear specs. A robust CMS replaced piecemeal content tools, letting the marketing team publish landing pages on demand.
In phase two, the focus shifted to growth features. ERP integration with NetSuite streamlined order fulfillment. Search and merchandising got a boost from Algolia, reviews rolled out via Yotpo, and returns were handled through Returnly. Each add-on slot fit cleanly into Shopify’s structure, so performance stayed consistent.
By Cyber Week, RUDIS saw the highest traffic, orders, and revenue in brand history. Revenue jumped 80%, orders climbed 70%, and conversions rose 27%. Site speed improvements cut load times by over 50%, reducing bounce rates. The brand earned a Platinum MUSE Creative Award and a Grand NYX Award, cementing their refreshed image.
Beyond the numbers, the team now has a flexible platform to test merchandising, launch email landing pages, and introduce interactive tools like a virtual shoe size finder. The outcome is a scalable digital storefront that can evolve as quickly as the sport itself.
