Vestique started as an online boutique in 2010 and grew into a 12-location chain, but outdated systems for ecommerce and in-store sales threw inventory and returns into chaos. In 2019, co-owners Morgan Lashley and Caroline Dunham realized they needed a single platform that could handle online orders, point of sale, and warehouse-style fulfillment across all stores. They called in Mike Riess and his team at Riess Group, a white-glove agency that specializes in Shopify integrations for apparel brands.
Apparel retail is tough: you need the right sizes and styles on hand, plus you have to manage returns without losing sales. Vestique had two separate legacy systems—one for online orders and a different point-of-sale tool in stores. That meant inaccurate inventory counts, lost orders, and no access to omnichannel features like buy online, pick up in store (BOPIS) or store-to-store transfers. Training new hires on each platform was slow and error-prone.
Riess Group moved Vestique’s entire setup onto Shopify. They handled the data migration, configured Shopify POS in every store, and customized inventory availability settings so each location could act as a fulfillment center. During the pandemic, Vestique tapped into that stock in closed stores to keep shipping online orders without missing a beat.
Out-of-box tools like BOPIS, store-to-store shipping, and real-time inventory visibility helped Vestique win more sales and reduce returns. Staff could see across locations in seconds, and customers enjoyed the flexibility of picking up or returning items at any store.
Shopify’s intuitive interface slashed employee training time. New hires were ready on day one, and management finally had access to clear sales and inventory reports. Morgan remarks that seeing historical data in one dashboard helped them plan marketing and product buys more effectively.
After launching on Shopify POS in 2019, Vestique recorded an 18% increase in sales in 2020, followed by 13% in 2021. The brand opened three more stores in 2023 and is planning an ecommerce site redesign for 2024—all while keeping operations lean and staff happy.
