Cristina Tomasi, MD, set up Top Life Project in June 2021 after her own journey with cancer drove her to promote lifestyle medicine. Alongside Andrea Fontana (CMO) and Jacopo La Porta (CTO), she aimed to make science-based health education and products easily available to consumers worldwide.
The team needed a platform to host multiple brands, deliver both digital courses and physical products, launch subscription offerings, and handle high-traffic spikes—while meeting strict healthcare data regulations.
They choseWooCommerceon WordPress multisite to power TopLifeProject.com, Red-Therapy.com, and TopSleeping.com, with King-Beef.com in development. Extensions for subscriptions, memberships, gift cards, and AI translation handled diverse product types. Stripe and PayPal integrations covered payments.
To protect sensitive health data, they connected a custom portal to Console Plus’s privateblockchain. Customer records are uploaded anonymously, ensuring GDPR compliance and letting the team personalize product recommendations.
Rather than steady campaigns, Top Life Project drives attention with major launch events. One release generated €190,000 in three months; another netted 2,000 orders in a week. They build buzz via Instagram Reels, Meta ads, influencers, and email alerts set up with Funnelish and Zapier.
In its first year the business targeted €500,000 in sales and closed at €795,000—59% above goal—serving nearly 18,000 active users with an average order of €80. Repeat buyers made up 40% of all orders, showing strong satisfaction even if a typo sneaks in now and then.
The founders plan to introduce a subscription model to smooth revenue swings and expand into Europe and the US by late 2024, using the same agile multisite approach for new markets.
