When The Somewhere Co. launched in 2021, its direct-to-consumer site set a high bar for style and user experience. Yet their wholesale portal felt clunky and outdated. Stockists struggled to browse collections, update orders, and manage inventory. With a major product launch looming, the team realized it was time to overhaul their B2B setup.
The Somewhere Co.’s wholesale network spans national retailers and indie boutiques across Australia. But internal tools hadn't kept pace with growth. Creating collections for stockists was slow. Updating product info required navigating multiple screens. The UI looked dated, and customer feedback piled up. With 50% more SKUs on the way, they needed a new platform that was fast and intuitive—for clients and employees alike.
After upgrading their DTC operations to Shopify Plus in 2021, the brand decided to migrate B2B to the same ecosystem. In March 2023 they started the move from Cin7 front-end to Shopify Plus’ B2B on Shopify suite. By May, the new wholesale site launched. Key features included Shopify’s Quick Add for one-click ordering, hover-activated pricing details, and Klaviyo integration to auto-sync customer lists.
Within months, metrics jumped. Average B2B order time fell by one-third. Product listing updates took just 9% of their previous time. During September 2023, average B2B order value rose 13% year over year. Stockists now navigate a unified experience that matches the DTC storefront. Abandoned carts dropped, engagement climbed, and the wholesale team shifted focus from admin to revenue-driving activities.
By bringing B2B into the same Shopify Plus ecosystem as DTC, The Somewhere Co. delivered a polished, efficient wholesale experience in record time. Features like Quick Add, hover pricing, and automated workflows not only improved client satisfaction but also unlocked significant operational efficiencies. For growing brands, aligning wholesale and direct channels on one platform can be a game-changer.
