PickandMix.com started its online journey in 2020 when its physical outlets closed. With a wide range of over 3,000 candy SKUs sold by weight and a few festive bundles, the team wanted to keep delivering smiles during lockdown. The brand prides itself on quality sweets and a smooth site experience.
Selling sweet treats in a crowded, impulse-driven market can mean blending in. Buyers do not need candy every day, so stops for a treat come from clever targeting. The small three-person marketing team needed an edge to get noticed and drive purchase decisions.
PickandMix.com connected WooCommerce to Google Ads using the official extension. This sync brought product feeds into Google's ecosystem. Then, they launched Performance Max campaigns to tap into Search, Shopping, YouTube, and Maps ads from one setup. Careful budget allocation and automated bidding kept costs predictable.
Once the feed was live, the founders chose their holiday bundles and most popular sweets for promotion. They set daily spend limits, leaned on Google's smart bidding, and let the system pick high-impact keywords. Quick photo and copy tweaks on underperforming items helped lower acquisition costs and raise conversions.
From September 2021 to December 2024, PickandMix.com saw a 24× revenue surge. In 2024, the brand hit an average 7.7× return on ad spend, peaking at 8× over the holidays. Lifetime investment in Google Ads delivered over a 5× ROI, proving the power of automated, data-driven campaigns.
The team only needs to swap seasonal products and review analytics each week. Underperformers get fresh photos or updated descriptions. The Performance Max setup surfaces more low-traffic items and expands reach without manual tweaks. Results feed back into site design and bundle ideas.
PickandMix.com shows that a small crew can outpace bigger rivals with smart tools and a focus on customer experience. A Shopify or a custom build might work, but here WooCommerce gave full control for integration, UX, and fast adjustments, all while tapping into Google’s ad network.
