When Not Your Daughter’s Jeans (NYDJ) looked under the hood of its inherited ecommerce setup, the brand found an expensive, slow-moving platform that drained budgets and stalled innovation. Over 17 years, changes in ownership had layered on complexity and high fees. NYDJ’s marketing leader, Steve Morales, had seen enough. After auditing the old system, he was convinced: Shopify Plus could drive down costs and speed up every project.
NYDJ’s previous platform carried a six-figure price tag and required lengthy development cycles for even small tweaks. Want to add Afterpay? Expect a three-month build. Need a back in stock alert? Plan for custom code and a hefty invoice. The team spent more time troubleshooting the platform than growing the business.
As soon as the contract ended, NYDJ partnered with Shopify Plus and tapped certified integrators to map out the migration. They lined up key apps—Attentive for SMS, Yotpo for loyalty, Klaviyo for email—while mapping data and design. The goal was clear: complete the cutover by mid-November, avoid renewing the old platform, and be ready for the holiday rush.
Building the new site cost less and moved faster. Simple integrations went live in hours. The Afterpay plugin launched by day’s end instead of taking months. With a lean agency team, NYDJ saved on development and gained an agile partner that could respond overnight to requests.
Since going live on Shopify Plus:
NYDJ also tested Crazy Egg for behavior tracking and expanded Narvar for streamlined returns. Freed from platform headaches, the brand can now pilot fresh ideas, gather customer feedback, and iterate faster than ever.
With leaner costs and plug-and-play agility, NYDJ is poised to accelerate marketing, launch new categories, and deepen loyalty programs. The move to Shopify Plus didn’t just replace software—it unlocked a growth engine that keeps pace with customer demand.
