Mr Roses began in 1995 as Roses Only, running on managed servers, self-hosted payment gateways and in-house coders. In 2019 it rebranded to Mr Roses to support global growth. Seasonal peaks like Valentine’s and Mother’s Day regularly pushed the site to its limits, so preserving uptime and customer experience was non-negotiable.
With in-house infrastructure, each traffic spike meant frantic scaling efforts. The team juggled server maintenance, payment security patches and deployment windows while orders poured in. Any downtime translated into lost revenue and damaged brand perception. They needed a platform that could expand and contract on demand.
Mr Roses chose Shopify Plus to host its retail site, gaining fully managed hosting, PCI compliance and global CDN distribution. During peak events, the platform auto-scaled to handle tens of thousands of simultaneous shoppers. The team shifted from firefighting servers to refining product pages and marketing campaigns.
A phased migration ensured no downtime. They rebuilt their theme using Shopify’s Liquid framework, integrated third-party apps for email and shipping, and set up automated deployments. Continuous monitoring dashboards were configured in real time via Shopify’s API and Google Analytics.
Since launching on Shopify Plus, Mr Roses has had zero downtime during launch seasons. The brand reports faster page loads, higher conversion rates and increased repeat purchases outside peak gifting events. Freed from infrastructure maintenance, the team now focuses on new product lines and international expansion.
Building on their success, they plan to roll out personalization features, expand wholesale channels and explore automation in inventory forecasting—all on the scalable Shopify Plus foundation.
