In 2019, developer Florin Pop started with a simple GitHub list of app ideas. He wanted a way to practice and share challenges. Fast forward to today, and iCodeThis is a paid coding platform pulling in about $2–3K a month from subscriptions alone.
Florin began as a curious indie hacker. He launched iCodeThis on Twitter by posting web design challenges, asking followers to translate screenshots into live code. The community responded so well that by December 2022 he had a standalone website, and by March 2023 he rolled out paid tiers.
Rather than rely on one product, Florin created a 50-in-50 coding course that now brings in $2K monthly, produced an ebook earning $30K total, and earns roughly $1K/month via YouTube sponsorships. The platform itself amassed $60K in revenue within its first 18 months.
He keeps his 184K Twitter followers engaged with regular iCodeThis updates, streams coding sessions on Twitch, and hosts a Discord server for members. Partnering with other creators and offering timely discounts has driven traffic and conversions.
Early burnout taught Florin to slow down and focus on health. He dropped 25 kg, adjusted his goals toward financial freedom, and built habits that fuel output without exhaustion.
Test ideas early, charge sooner, listen to real users, and diversify your offerings. A strong niche, coupled with consistent social engagement, laid the foundation for Florin’s $5K/month business.
